In its Journal, the association publishes papers about archival science, library science and related disciplines. Both theoretical issues and technical (i.e. practical) problems such as conservation, selection, restoration, description and accessibility of archival documents or books are discussed. The association of course keeps up with new developments and current tendencies in the field of archives and libraries. However, its Journal may also contain articles about the history and organisation of specific archives creators and libraries, as well as contributions about the history and the richness of particular archival fonds or library collections, and biographical studies related to archivists, librarians, collectors or bibliophiles in general.
In 2007, the editorial line of the Journal was adapted; content now evolves around two axes: one specific topic discussed in eight to ten different articles, at least half of which must be international contributions, and one ordinary part comprising general articles published by ABB and the habitual sections (chronicles and proceedings). The featured topic alternately bears on archival sciences and library sciences from year to year. Furthermore, the peer-review committee was expanded to experts from the world of academia.
Articles can be published in French, Dutch, German, English, Italian and Spanish.
The journal is published with the support of the University Foundation of Belgium
